October is coming up and I’m thinking about doing a month long series of posts about horror movies for Halloween. Because I love them. And I want to.
If I spend a month watching and writing about scary movies, which ones would you like me to include??
I’ve seen a lot. And I will definitely include films like The Evil Dead, Hellraiser, Jaws, some Italian stuff by folks like Fulci & Argento. But what else? What new films should I be watching? What classics are not to be missed? Tell me what you want me to scare myself silly with!!!
Leave suggestions in the comments or email me at glowsw at gmail. Whichever!
This is gonna be fun guys! Bloody, gory, fun.

Yes! Good suggestions! I haven’t seen Freaks or the original Hitcher yet. Other than that one scene from Freak where they’re all sitting around the dinner table chanting or something and I was just very confused…
I’m so excited for this.

Hitcher and OH YES you must review MAY! Those are my fave horror films.

MAY!!! Dude, I totally wrote a whole academic paper about that movie my senior year of college. Which I am not going to post here because it will make people’s brains explode in a not good way. But I will write things about May. I love May.

Three movies that scared the crap out of me as a kid (but may seem silly now): “Pet Sematary”, “Child’s Play”, and “It”. One of the most bizarre: “Troll” – it is worth watching just for the ridiculousness. Hmm, I’ve never seen Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, but I’m scared of birds in general, so I would find that one scary (maybe I’ll watch it with ya!)

Troll. Gina, I know I’ve said this, but you are my hero.

Now I’m dying to see Troll 2!

It’s next on my Netflix queue. This is going to be amazing.

“Invaders from Mars” (1953) this totally creeped me out and gave me nightmares (of course I was about 10 years old when I saw it which was not in 1953!!)
“Psycho” – I can’t believe you didn’t list it!!
“Village of the Damned” ( the original)

I’d love to see your top 5 zombie movies. I know we talked about a few I hadn’t seen but can’t remember what they were called.

Funny you should ask… a few years ago I wrote a top 10 list that really hasn’t changed. I’ll repost it here!

Invaders from Mars is on Netflix streaming! Yay! How have I never seen this movie??
Also, mom, you win for the classics. Psycho AND The Shining. Nice.

Not a movie but the intro to “Chiller Theater” on TV in the 70’s really freaked me out as a kid. Rewatching it, it’s still pretty creepy. I’m only now realizing that hand has too many fingers too.

That opening is amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that though I know I’ve heard of it.

Jurassic Park. Supposedly stupid in retrospect, but scared the crap out of me. And still would.

Robin! Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies ever! The T-rex stuff definitely freaked me out a bit as a kid. But for some reason I insisted on going to see it over and over and over again. I think The Little Mermaid is the only movie I’ve seen more in a theater.
