I have to be honest, I hate these vote based popularity online contests. Not because I think they’re unfair or can be rigged or whatever. I hate them because I hate having to constantly ask you guys to “Please vote!” every day for two weeks straight. That’s boring and dumb and once you’ve seen the link, it’s annoying to see it five billion more times every darn day.

I don’t want to do that.

But I do want you to vote.

I’d rather make it fun.

So here’s what I’m thinking. Instead of constantly posting variations on the theme of “Please vote!”, I will instead post other things. Things I will do for you. Every day, if we meet a certain, small goal, I will do something for you.

Take for example today. Let’s start with a modest goal. I’m getting close to 50 votes, which isn’t bad but it’s not good enough either. I would love to pass 50 today. I would also love more comments on the video. So this is going to be our goal:

Reach 50 votes and have 7 comments total by the end of the day. That’s about 10 more votes and 5 more comments from what we have so far.

Let’s call the end of the day Midnight? Do we want to try for midnight? Let’s do that.

If we reach the goal, here’s what I will do for you:

I will write a haiku. About pie.

And for every ten votes past 50, I will write another haiku.

So if we get to 60 votes, I will write 2 haikus. 70 votes, 3. You get the idea.

If we like this game, I’ll be back on Monday with a new goal and a new thing I will do for you. What will I do on Monday? I don’t know! But it will probably be pretty stupid. Have anything you want me to do? I’m open to suggestions.

This could be fun, right? And definitely more fun than me spamming you with “Please Vote!” for the next two weeks.
