Back at the office today (and yesterday), back to real life. Why are vacations always over so soon? And why is my office so cold?

This is why I drink so much coffee. It’s the only way I can stay warm.

I’m slowly getting my brain back on track. I have a bit going on with life stuff but mostly I just need to unpack, do some laundry, put some clean sheets on my bed. Simple things.

Anyway, in the midst of sleepiness and grocery shopping, I went with a few friends to see Silver Linings Playbook last night.

I spent the entire movie huddled under my coat, the heat in the theater apparently doesn’t work either.

The movie was enjoyable at least. It’s cute.

Bradley Cooper is always surprising. So often he’s just another pretty boy but every once in a while he gives this little hint that he actually can be great. Most of the time I find him pretty bland. He has those striking blue eyes and he plays douche bag very well, but outside of The Hangover I’ve found him to be mostly forgettable. I can’t remember a thing about Limitless and The A-Team is unwatchable. He’s fine in things like Valentine’s Day, Midnight Meat Train, etc. but whatever. Not terribly special.

Maybe the problem is his choice of movies?

Because I loved him in Silver Linings Playbook. I feel like he just hit all the right notes, had the vulnerability, the anger, the confusion. The ups and the downs. The movie itself is a little scattered, it changes moods as abruptly as Bradley Cooper’s bipolar Pat. Which sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. But it’s sweet. It comes together. Mostly it’s just all about Bradley Cooper. And his striking blue eyes.

Of course it’s also about Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. I continue to love her in everything. Together, playing crazy, Cooper and Lawrence just get it so right. Their relationship sparks and winds and grows, sometimes without their characters even realizing what’s happening. But it’s there and we see it and it’s so satisfying in the end the way things work out.

Bradley Cooper gives a fantastic performance and Silver Linings Playbook made me laugh. I wouldn’t say the movie is a favorite of last year but it’s good and it’s worth seeing. Especially if you’re on a couch at home with a nice blanket to keep your toes warm.220px-Silver_Linings_Playbook_Poster
