Someone in my screenwriting class was talking about how they went to see Beauty & the Beast over the weekend. It made me really want to watch a Disney movie. So I did.

(I would have watched Beauty & the Beast but I don’t actually own that one)

Little Mermaid has always been one of my favorites. Up until Jurassic Park happened, it held the record for the most “Moooooom, I wanna go see it again!” moments. And I know you can look at the story and see it as a Girl gives up everything for a Boy story. That’s not the part that I always loved though. I loved that it was an adventure story. And it was a girl having the adventure. Yes, she fell in love and it became about getting the boy to kiss her. But before that, she was already in love with the exploring and seeing the world and she was damn stubborn about it too.

Anyway. I also like the songs.
