I was going to write a whole update about the weekend, pie, Drive, and the Emmys. But work is busy. Go figure. Real quick though:

PIE!

If you missed it, I made pie.

I know, I’m ridiculous.

I also entered KCRW’s annual Good Food Pie contest. Here are the winners and stuff.

I didn’t win but I honestly wasn’t expecting to. I just enter this thing for fun. Because it’s fun! I was actually kind of surprised by how competitive some of the people entering could be. To be fair, some of these folks are professional bakers and winning a local competition would be a huge help for business I’m sure.

I’m just a professional nerd who likes pie.

I did find the whole thing to be much less organized and in a way, less fun, than it was two years ago. While LACMA is one of my favorite places in the city, it’s not a great place for a pie contest.

Not gonna complain though. There was pie. And I took my brother to the Tim Burton exhibit which is still amazing.

Here are a few pie pictures from the day.

DRIVE. Oh god guys, go see Drive. I am in love with this movie. I want to have its little film babies. They will be cute. Especially if Ryan Gosling is involved.

I have more things I could say about it, but I really just want people to see it. I went in knowing almost nothing (I hadn’t even seen a whole trailer) and I’m really glad I did. I was actually shocked by the shocking moments! Of which there are a few.

The performances are wonderful, Gosling is brilliant. I enjoyed the music. I love the way Los Angeles is filmed.

I just really, really liked this movie. It’s violent for sure. But go see it. Really.

I also watched the Emmys. They were fun. I like Modern Family and The Daily Show and Kyle Chandler. Jane Lynch is wonderful.

“A lot people are very curious as to why I’m a lesbian — ladies and gentleman, the cast of Entourage.”

Okay, need to go back to work.

Coming soon! A re-post of my old Top Ten Zombie Movie list. Ya know, getting ready for Halloween and all that. Scary movies! Yay!
